Aerobatics

Chandler Air Service provides aerobatics training in one of our three 2T-A1-2 Great Lakes open-cockpit bi-planes. We can tailor training programs for beginners, advanced pilots, or even spin training. We have tailored programs for various branches of government and groups of pilots to meet their employers and personal needs to improve their skills. For the following courses, we normally schedule no more than two flights per day. Typically flights are 1 hour duration each. Parachute and headset rentals are included.

Beginning Basic Aerobatics

Previous aerobatic experience is not required but a tailwheel endorsement is. This course includes all the basic rolls, loops, and spins, plus hammerheads, immelmans, cuban eights, and a combination of maneuvers. Also covered is inverted flight, including climbs, descents, turns, inverted stalls and the emergency spin recovery program.

2.0 Hours Ground Instruction ($70 /hour)

Beginning Basic Aerobatics – Short Course

One half of our 10-hour course. Less emphasis on additional maneuvers and very little inverted flight.

Tailwheel

With the increase in popularity of technically advanced aircraft, focus on common stick and rudder skills seem to be fading in modern flight training. Stay sharp by learning to fly taildraggers. Our Super Cubs demand coordinated rudder inputs that will train you to be a better pilot in all aircraft.

We have three PA-18-150 Piper Super Cubs (160hp) for basic tailwheel training. You can start from scratch for the complete Private Pilot training, get your original tailwheel endorsement (required by the FAA), get recurrent, or any number of applications to other certificates. These aircraft are also available for rental.

Our tailwheel endorsement training program is not a short and sweet bunch of rote takeoffs and landings. You will learn advanced use of rudder skills, stalls and recovery procedures, slips to the Nth degree, dirt runway landings, and the most fun “fly down the runway on one wheel trick”. Plan on 8 to 10 hours of dual for a pilot with good stick and rudder skills. If you have been flying stuff that goes fast or been flying airplanes that you have been told you don’t need much rudder in, you might plan on a few more hours. You do not need to go buy any special books or reading material.

We also do training in your tailwheel aircraft. We have a reasonable amount of experience in many different types of tailwheel aircraft and regularly train in customers airplanes. Depending on the amount of time needed in your aircraft we may need to be named as additional insured on your policy. We will provide the information necessary for your agent to see to it.

10.0 Hours Dual Instruction ($199 /hour)
$1,990.00
1.0 Hour Ground Instruction ($70 /hour)
$70.00
GRAND TOTAL
$2,060.00
